As I reflect on my teaching experience it is evident that my philosophy is creating a classroom environment where students can show their creativity, artistic side and express themselves. I have a dance background and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the dance education stream from

York University in Media, Performance and Design. Art integration is an important approach to teaching core subjects because there are multiple ways of understanding class materials and multiple ways of expressing that knowledge. It can be beneficial that this teaching method can appeal to students with different learning styles. I know the struggles of being a student with a learning disability. I want to create a class environment and lesson plans that support multiple intelligences, I will have zones in my classroom that work
for each type of intelligence. I strive to employ multiple teaching methods and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students. I have and continue to use hands-on activities, investigations, labs, lectures, visual learning aids, charts, and diagrams to present the information being learned.
Assessment is an important part of quality education. My aim is to keep a track record to have a perspective of the student's level academically and where I would need to begin instruction. I intend to give critical ongoing assessments throughout the year to track the students progress and modify instruction accordingly.
I believe in creating a positive learning environment in which respect for others is fundamental in promoting intellectual diversity. I want my students to be in a positive environment because emotional and mental exhaustion from stress interrupts learning and I want my students to be excited to learn.
I have completed over 550 hours of educational teaching training experience in the primary and junior division, which I believe has strengthened my teaching abilities. I will soon graduate from The U
niversity of Ottawa and expect to receive my Bachelor of Education with a certificate to teach the Primary and Junior level in June 2021. I am constantly learning new things and as a teacher I am eager to use this acquired knowledge to become a strong and compassionate teacher.
